Elba weekend by private plane – island escape from Berlin/Schönhagen

Three days in the Tuscan Archipelago, flying by private plane straight to the bay of Biodola.

A 3-day trip to Italy by Piper M600. Accommodation: Hotel Hermitage. From €7,295 (per person in a double room incl. breakfast).

The Piper M600 takes you from Berlin/Schönhagen to Marina di Campo on Elba in a little over two hours. The Hotel Hermitage sits on the bay of La Biodola, built in terraces into a pine-covered slope, with its own sandy beach and three seawater pools. Portoferraio, with Napoleon's winter residence and its two fortresses, is a short drive away; Monte Capanne, with its view across the whole archipelago, a slightly longer one. In between there is as much programme, or as little, as you like.

DAY 1

Flight to Elba and arrival

Departure by private plane (Piper M600 or similar, 6 seats) from Berlin/Schönhagen (EDAZ) to Marina di Campo on Elba, flight time around 2 hours 15 minutes. Transfer to the Hotel Hermitage, 9.6 kilometres and about 15 minutes. Welcome drink, and time to arrive. The afternoon is left for a first look at the island, or for the beach in front of the house.

DAY 2

Portoferraio and Napoleon's traces

After breakfast, a day in the island capital: through the narrow, stepped lanes of the old town of Portoferraio and on to the Villa dei Mulini, Napoleon's winter residence, looking out to sea. Climb higher and Forte Stella or Forte Falcone put the whole harbour beneath you. Or leave the day to the beach.

DAY 3

Beach, Monte Capanne and return flight

One last morning by the water: the Spiaggia delle Ghiaie in the middle of Portoferraio, with white pebbles and clear water for snorkelling, or the bay of Biodola with its fine golden sand. For height instead, drive up to the mountain village of Marciana and take the historic cable car to Monte Capanne; on a clear day the view reaches across all of Elba, the Tuscan Archipelago and as far as Corsica. Return flight from Marina di Campo to Schönhagen in the afternoon, again around 2 hours 15 minutes.

Hotel Hermitage

Setting

The house lies on the Strada Provinciale della Biodola near Portoferraio, in a quiet green bay among pines and the Tuscan Archipelago national park. Marina di Campo airport is 9.6 kilometres away, around 15 minutes. Portoferraio, with its old town, the Villa dei Mulini and the fortresses, is a short drive.

Grounds & beach

The hotel is built in terraces into the slope and spreads across a private park of some 20 hectares. It has a fine golden sand beach with its own section, loungers and parasols, plus a jetty. The beach shelves gently and the water in the bay is calm.

Rooms & suites

Around 130 rooms and suites are spread mostly across small cottages set into the slope among pines and rock. All have their own balcony or terrace, many of them looking across the bay. Suites are bookable for a supplement on request.

Dining

Four restaurants serve Mediterranean cooking, fresh fish and island specialities, some right by the sea, some on panoramic terraces. There are three bars, among them a pool bar from which to watch the sun set over the bay.

Pools, spa & sport

Three outdoor seawater pools belong to the house, the largest right by the beach, along with a whirlpool at the water's edge. The wellness area offers massages and beauty treatments. For sport there is a 9-hole golf course of the hotel's own, tennis courts and snorkelling, diving, waterskiing and boat hire; riding can be arranged nearby.

For trips with a scheduled flight, this is possible, usually for an additional charge, unless the airline already includes it.

How much luggage am I allowed to bring?

This varies by airline and fare. We'll let you know the exact free baggage allowance along with your trip offer.

How much is the deposit?

In principle, traveling is possible with an uncomplicated pregnancy up to week 34/35; the second trimester (weeks 14 to 28) is considered ideal. The exact rules vary by airline: many require a medical certificate of fitness to fly from week 28 onward, and most airlines decline to carry passengers from week 36 onward. Feel free to reach out — we'll check individually for your airline and route how your desired trip can be arranged.
