Portorož / Piran weekend by private jet – Adriatic escape from Berlin/Schönhagen

Three days on the Adriatic coast, flying by private jet to the imperial Palace Hotel Portorož.

A 3-day trip to Slovenia by Embraer Phenom 100. Accommodation: Hotel Palace Portorož. From €7,115 (per person in a double room incl. breakfast, based on 2 people traveling on board).

The Embraer Phenom 100 takes you from Berlin/Schönhagen to the Slovenian Adriatic in about an hour and a half. The Hotel Palace Portorož, part of the Anantara group since 2026, opened in 1910 and was then the largest hotel on the Adriatic after the Excelsior in Venice: a palace of the imperial and royal monarchy, today with a modern wing and a spa with seawater pools. The beach promenade begins at the door, and medieval Piran with its Tartini Square is a few minutes away by car. In between there is as much programme, or as little, as you like.

Hotel Palace Portorož

Setting

The house stands on the Obala in the middle of Portorož, right by the beach promenade and in its own historic park. The beach is around 300 metres away. Portorož airport is 6.3 kilometres out, about ten minutes by transfer. Medieval Piran is a few minutes away by car, as is the nature park of the Sečovlje salt pans.

History & architecture

Built from 1908 to designs by the Austrian architect Johann Eustacchio and opened on 20 August 1910. The Palace was then the largest hotel on the Adriatic after the Excelsior in Venice and ranked with Grado and Abbazia among the first addresses of the Austrian Riviera. After war damage it reopened in 1951, and from 1964 to 1972 a casino operated inside. The building was listed as a cultural monument in 1983 and closed in 1990. A restoration costing some 70 million euros preserved the historic shell and renewed the interior; the house reopened in 2008. Since February 2026 it has been run by Minor Hotels under the Anantara brand. Today it comprises the historic palace and a restrained modern wing.

Rooms & suites

The five-star house has 181 rooms, among them six suites named Laguna, Venice, Piran, Palace and Rose, plus a presidential suite. This trip is booked in the Deluxe room with sea view, around 38 m². The view looks either over the historic park or across the bay of Piran. The old building keeps its grand-hotel character, the new wing is clear and contemporary. Junior suites and suites are bookable for a supplement.

Dining

Breakfast is served in the Crystal Hall, the 1910 ballroom with its restored crystal chandeliers and gilding, and runs until midday. Alongside it are the Sophia restaurant with Istrian cooking, recommended by the Michelin guide, and the Fleur de Sel overlooking the sea. For the evening there is the Lobby Bar and the Pool Bar, and in the park in front of the house the Forma Viva café.

Rose Spa

The spa has ten treatment rooms and a connected indoor and outdoor seawater pool, along with a whirlpool, a large sauna area with steam baths and a fitness centre. Massages and beauty treatments are put together individually.

Around the hotel

The Portorož beach promenade starts at the door, with cafés, the marina and lidos. Piran with Tartini Square and St George's is the classic excursion, the Sečovlje salt pans the quieter one. Wi-Fi is free throughout the house and dogs are welcome on request.

The exact rules vary by airline: many require a medical certificate of fitness to fly from week 28 onward, and most airlines decline to carry passengers from week 36 onward.
